Accomplish the Impossible: Tackle Those Extreme Wildlife Jobs!

The phone rings and you find yourself looking at that monster job, what then?

Sooner or later you’ll get that call to tackle the seemingly impossible task. Would you have the skills and know-how to take on a bat job of this caliber?

Option 1 – Turn the Job Down

Let’s face it, we all have limitations and at some point in your career, you’ll get that call to resolve a job that is “outside your wheelhouse”. You then have a few options. You could politely say that you’re not interested in the job. However, that option does nothing for you or the client asking for help.

Option 2 – Take the Job & Hope for the Best

This option is the worst option available. These kinds of jobs can be extraordinarily risky, both from a liability standpoint, a high degree of failure standpoint and a safety standpoint. If you don’t have the skills or expertise to accomplish them, then do yourself and your company a favor and don’t get involved!

Option 3 – Refer out Locally or to an Unknown Entity

Referrals are a reflection of you and your company. They are gold, use them carefully!

Chances are, if the job is very complex, you wouldn’t even know where to begin to find a company with the kind of expertise to handle that job locally. You could refer them to a large or national company, but can you reliably trust them with your referral if you don’t know their abilities to handle a job like that? Referrals are a reflection of you and your company. They are gold, use them carefully! Chances are, a huge job like this one is not one that you want to refer to some company that will shred whatever trust that client had in you.

Option 4 – Let us help!

What if you had a vast network of highly skilled, trained and certified specialists at your disposal? What if these specialists already have a crew that could competently and professionally handle extremely complex jobs like the one pictured above and do it safely, all while offering a profit to you and potentially the opportunity to be a part of the wildlife resolution project and learn some of these skills at the same time?

It’s all possible and it’s something that happens all the time in this industry. You just have to know the right contacts within the industry. Allow us to guide you to those experts that have the skills and know-how to do these large and or complex jobs. Call us, send over your photos and information and we’ll find you the help you need. Whether it’s a huge log structure needing chinking or a complex bird or bat project, we have the resources to connect you to the right industry professional. Often these jobs are so profitable due to their complexity, there’s room for referral fees to be passed on to the operator, even if the operator has no involvement other than to make the referrals and connections.

Option 5 – Attend Industry Training and Obtain the Right Skills

Another option is to obtain training and skills needed to do that job yourself. If your client is patient, and you have the willingness to spend the time and money to obtain training, then this option may work well for you. We would suggest that you be honest with your client about your current skillsets and abilities and maybe offer them a discounted rate if you allow them to be “your training ground”. There’s some fantastic specialized training out there including how to safely use ropes to work at heights along with other roof access equipment and training, even learning how to use special sealants on log structures and the process of applying “chinking”, using drones and lasers and numerous other specialties. Honestly, the more you learn, more competent and valuable you are!
